It's been too long, and I feel too hurt, and today is another one of those days.

I can't stop thinking about you.

You came along, and out of the blue, pulled a flower out from the pocket on the side of your bag.

"Here." you had said that day, and gave the flower to me. "Today's weather is a bit drab, don't you think?"

And yes, it was a bit drab. It was stormy, and rainy, and windy, and cold.

But that flower was bright, and white, and wonderful.

Still a bit wary, I took I step back, but you took two steps forward, and opened your arms, and trapped me in a hug.

I stood there, stiff-shouldered, and surprised.

No one ever hugged me.

And after a few hesitant seconds, I brought my hands up from where they lay, stiff at my sides, and wrapped them around your shoulders.

You pulled back soon after, and smiled.

"Today wasn't a very good day, now, was it?"

I moved my head down in a quick nod, a little surprised at how you knew.

But you just nodded, satisfied, and muttered, "I thought so."

You pulled my arm as you walked towards the sidewalk, and I was too confused to be afraid.

Leaning against the wall, you simply slid down, and sat. After pulling me down to sit next to you, you turned to face me, tilted your head, and said, "So what happened today?"

I didn't answer. You were an absolute stranger to me. Maybe I had met you at a family reunion or something? I took a quick look at your face.

No. No one in my family had green eyes.

So I just sat there, quietly.

And then the lightning came. Followed by thunder, and pouring rain.

You watched me as I flinched, and brought my knees to my head.

And you frowned.

"You're not afraid of the weather, are you?"

Yes, I was. But I didn't tell you that.

I didn't need to. You figured that out all on your own.

You had just looked confused. You quieted her voice, nearly to a whisper, and said, "But the weather's not going to hurt you, see?"

And you ran out into the rain.

I watched, panicked. "What were you doing?", I thought. The lightning could get you! You could catch a cold from the rain!

But then you ran up to me. You grabbed my hand, and pulled me up.

And you pulled me into the rain.

You spun me around, took the flower out of my hands, and put it in my hair, and it was wonderful.

You were wonderful.

I went home soon after that, sopping wet, and startled.

But it was a good kind of startled. It was the kind that kept me warm in the rain, and sunny when the skies were filled with clouds.

It was the feeling that bloomed its way into your life when you meet the person that changes your life.

And I know if this was for any of my other friends, they would tease and call it romantic, despite it just being for a friend.

But you, o' child of the heavens, were my very first friend.

And that was the day that I met you.

Now, though...

You're gone, and that story is for another day.

The storyteller grows tired, and sad. But she promises that she will continue the story.

Because it's been too long, and I've felt too hurt, and it's been another one of those days.

But I promise I'll continue, because those days will keep on coming back.
So...
Today's one of those days.

And I've decided to let this story go.

I know it's only one part, but I promise to keep on updating whenever these days come up.

This, my dear readers, is the story of a girl, a wonderful sunshine friend, who change my life for the better and the worse.

I hope you enjoy. Thank you so much for your support.
